LawrenceHost (est. Nov, 2006) is a webcomic-friendly host headquartered in Lawrence, KS, USA. We are tiny. Very, very tiny.

And we really don't mind if you don't buy hosting through us. Isn't that refreshing? In fact, if you look in the sidebar you'll see that we're up front about whose datacenter we use, and encourage you to go to them if we're not your cup of tea. We didn't start LawrenceHost to make a pile of money, but to help defray our own hosting costs, and to provide reliable hosting for ourselves, friends, other webcomicers, and a few people who just like doing business with "the little guy." (And because we got tired of doing that dance called, "The Web Host Shuffle.")

One good thing about this attitude is that, since we're not trying to make a big profit, we put far fewer accounts on a single server than most big hosts, which translates into increased performance for most sites. We're also pretty good about helping even absolute beginners learn to run modern, database-backed sites (including webcomic sites) with Drupal, the world's best and most versatile content management system.

We don't have an automated order system because we don't do "standard packages." We'd rather talk about what you need and work out a price. The typical account runs about twenty dollars a month (cheaper if you pay for several months in advance), with no setup fees unless you need us to build your site for you. If you run over your bandwidth allotment, we don't cut you off--We just renegotiate if it becomes a regular thing. You can find cheaper hosting. Seriously. It is doubtful that you'll find as much personal attention, though.
